Continuous training at the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centre in Palma: learning to keep growing

At the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centre in Palma, we understand that supporting children, adolescents and their families also means continuing to learn, keeping our knowledge up to date and sharing experiences.

That is why, this academic year, the Centre’s team has launched a new internal training initiative, based on something as valuable as the knowledge that already exists within the team: professionals from different fields sharing their training, experience and working tools with their colleagues.

The initiative has a dual objective: to promote the updating and refreshing of knowledge, while also creating spaces for shared learning that help further enrich the work carried out every day at the Centre.

Knowledge is also something we share

All the teams at the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centres are made up of professionals with diverse profiles and areas of expertise, who work in a coordinated way across the sports, educational and psychosocial fields.

This diversity represents an opportunity to learn from one another. Through internal training sessions, the professionals themselves become trainers, sharing their knowledge with the rest of the team.

“It has been a very enriching experience, both for those delivering the training and for the rest of the team,” explains Iñigo Martínez San Vicente, Director of the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centre in Palma, who highlights the potential of this initiative to help the team continue growing together.

The aim is for these spaces to continue developing in the future and, in addition, to be extended to other contexts, such as schools, conferences and other external settings, thereby broadening the reach of the knowledge and experiences generated at the Centre.

First steps: first aid and CPR

One of the first training sessions focused on first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), as a refresher of the training received the previous academic year together with RojoMed.

The session was delivered by María, a professional in the sports field, who has training as a Higher Technician in Early Childhood Education, lifeguard and Higher Technician in Dietetics and Nutrition.

The training provided an opportunity to review essential knowledge and procedures on how to respond to potential emergency situations, strengthening the team’s preparedness and safety in the Centre’s day-to-day activities.

Beyond acquiring new knowledge, these types of sessions help keep skills that require regular practice and review up to date, particularly when they are related to the care and support of children and adolescents.

Understanding better to support better: attachment in childhood and adolescence

The second training session addressed a topic closely related to the work carried out within the psychosocial field: attachment in childhood and adolescence.

The session was delivered by Ana and Rubén, both members of the Centre’s psychosocial team.

Through this training, the team was able to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of bonds and relationships throughout the different stages of development, incorporating knowledge that helps them better understand the needs of the children and adolescents they support.

Because gaining a better understanding of the different realities that can arise during childhood and adolescence also allows us to adapt our perspective, understand individual needs and provide increasingly appropriate support.

A commitment to continuous training

These first experiences are only the beginning of an initiative that aims to become an established learning space within the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centre in Palma.

Continuous training is part of our commitment to the quality of the support we provide. Caring for those who support others also means offering them opportunities to continue learning, share knowledge and grow professionally.

In this regard, internal training not only allows knowledge to be updated. It also encourages collaboration, strengthens relationships between professionals and highlights everything that each person brings to the team through their experience and expertise.

At the Rafa Nadal Foundation, we believe that learning together helps us provide better support. And that every piece of knowledge shared can become a new tool to continue supporting children, adolescents and families on their journey.

Because continuing to learn and develop is also a way of continuing to grow.
