The Rafa Nadal Foundation and the SILBON Foundation have launched a new activity within the Summer School program of the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centers, with the aim of bringing sustainability closer to children through play, creativity, and active participation.
Following the success of the 2025 experience, the initiative has been carried out in the three Rafa Nadal Foundation Centers in Madrid, Valencia, and Palma, consolidating a strategic partnership based on a shared commitment to education and the holistic development of children.
This year, the project focused on Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, encouraging participants to adopt habits related to recycling, proper waste separation, material reuse, and the circular economy.
Through a range of workshops and activities adapted to each age group, children were encouraged to reflect on how everyday actions can contribute to environmental protection and to discover new ways of consuming more consciously and responsibly.
Learning Sustainability Through Play
One of the main activities was Planet News 2030, an educational initiative in which participants receive a special edition of a magazine set in a future where the Sustainable Development Goals have supposedly already been achieved. Through games, challenges, and puzzles, children explore key concepts such as the circular economy and the 5Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recover, and Recycle.
Another key activity, Recycled Challenges, allowed participants to put these lessons into practice in a creative and enjoyable way. Using everyday materials such as cardboard tubes, bottle caps, paper, and ribbons, the children built their own toys and then took part in a series of challenges alongside the characters “Zampón and Tragón.” This experience helped them understand that many waste materials can be transformed into new resources and given a second life.
A Design Created by the Participants Themselves
As a new feature this year, the SILBON Foundation and SILBON wanted to further encourage children’s participation by developing an exclusive pack for all participants at the Rafa Nadal Foundation Centers, consisting of a T-shirt, a tote bag, and bracelets.
What makes this collection particularly special is that its designs are inspired by drawings created by the children themselves during the activities held in the summer of 2025. Through this initiative, their ideas and creativity have been transformed into real products, reinforcing their sense of belonging to the project and demonstrating that their contributions can generate a positive impact.
Education to Build a More Sustainable Future
With this new activity, the Rafa Nadal Foundation and the SILBON Foundation reaffirm their commitment to transformative education that helps shape a more aware, responsible, and environmentally committed generation.
